The Gastronome Club was founded on December 8, 1947 at a dinner meeting at the Sir Francis Drake Hotel.

The Gastronome Club is an independent social club consisting of working and retired food service professionals. The purpose of the Club is to promote good fellowship, enjoy good food and wine at social functions and to support Culinary Education in the form of a Gastronome Club Scholarship.
